Short Term Health Insurance Options

Few will argue that the present state of our economy is by any means good. With elevated levels of those unemployed, coupled with stagnant wages, many households are finding it extremely difficult to pay ordinary bills. Employers, also feeling the pinch from consumer belt tightening, and also facing challenges in remaining profitable. Unfortunately, many of these businesses are finding that they have no choice but to reduce or eliminate the health insurance benefits they provide to their employees.

Employees, who once relied heavily on employer sponsored health insurance, now are confronted with the stark reality that businesses can no longer afford to pay monthly premiums. In fact, recent statistics indicate that just under 45% of employed workers are covered by an employer sponsored medical insurance plan. Where then are these people obtaining their coverage from?

Sadly, many employees that cannot get or afford health insurance through their employer are simply forgoing coverage altogether. These people, which are gainfully employed, do make up a significant percentage of the growing uninsured population. At the present time, just over 17% of the adult population lacks medical insurance. Many economists are predicting that the uninsured population will continue to grow as the world copes with its deepest recession since the Great Depression. [...]

Health Insurance Pays for Health Products

It’s not often that you here of a health insurance plan that pays for health products, but that is the case for a woman in Minnesota. I’m not talking about prescription drugs that one needs for certain ailments, I’m talking about a health fitness plan the lady joined and her health insurance pays for health products.

The health fitness program that the woman joined is called the “Body by ViSalus Fitness Challenge.” The challenge focuses on several different things such as losing weight, building lean muscle or just becoming more fitness focused among other things. The nutritional products that are offered through ViSalus contain nutrients including whey protein which is extremely good for the body and has no known side affects and can help prevent certain heart and liver diseases among other healthy benefits.

The challenge and the products that Body by ViSalus offers work so good that an average of one thousand new people every day are joining the Body by ViSalus challenge. Famous actors/actresses and pro athletes have joined the challenge and other health and diet companies are recommending the Body by ViSalus products. If that wasn’t a big enough endorsement itself, now there is at least one health insurance company that is paying for the health products that ViSalus offers. [...]
